Why would you assume that vaccination won't last long term?
Most people in the USA haven't had a polio shot since they were about 6 years old or so, and are considered protected.
Most of those people had 4 polio shots by the time they were 6 years old.
Maybe we just need 4 COVID shots and then we'll be good too. Can't know yet.
