You have to remember that the unvaccinated group includes lots of people who have recovered from a previous case, probably the majority of them. After all, it’s one of the justifications for not getting the shot.

So, you’re looking at a comparison of two populations that have prior immunity. Not one that has vaccination immunity and the other that has none.

You also need to factor in behavior. Older vaccinated people may be taking fewer precautions against getting exposed than the unvaccinated.

The <18 population sure is getting around to get exposed to the virus! Wow!

Part of that case rate is the easy availability of testing in England. Don’t even have to leave your home, ask for one and it comes in the mail.
