To all the posters on this subject, you should be great full for what you have in your family. I did not have that opportunity with my parents. Both of my parents were gone out of my life before I was 19 years old, only ever seen one of my grandparents. Yes, I missed allot of things, but I still have memories and stories, in my our family, wife died in 2015, kids and grand kids, I have not seen in 4-5 years, family disputes, no respect can make life a challenge. But I will continue on in life even though I am nearing 80, still many things to be greatful for in my life.
My advice, enjoy every minute that you can, tomorrow may not happen.
Good luck
Rich
