Renewables do not add to greenhouse gas emissions like burning fossil fuels. Take areas not highly desirable for corn/bean production and convert to grasses suitable for pelletizing, then burning in power plant. The area in iowa south of Hwy 34 comes to mind, seed the whole bottom two counties to switchgrass/miscanthis. Big power plant in ottumwa, with excellent rail running along Hwy 34. Strategically place pelletizing plants all along this route, then haul by rail to Ottumwa. These types of grasses are tremendous “solar batteries”, to be converted to power whenever and wherever needed. I don’t get so hung up on efficiencies, as long as my fuel source is enough cheaper to lower the cost per unit of electricity created,and environmentally friendly at the same time.
