The government dictates treatment protocol, and if a Dr or Hospital breaks that protocol, that Dr or Hospital can lose all Federal Funding (at the whim of the Government).
Go to a Hospital board meeting, and ask the treasurer what their books would look like with zero Medicare or Medicaid dollars coming in. Don't forget, Hospitals are required by law to treat everyone who comes in the ER, regardless of ability to pay, and the Hospital gets reimbursed through Medicaid. They are not going to risk that cash flow. | |
