| An electric vehicle powered by a windmill would be great for the environment, but the issue I have is cost. I worked on a 2014 Ford Fusion plug in hybrid at work yesterday. They record their purchase prices for all vehicles. They paid $64,000 for that vehicle. More than double the cost of a gas powered car. The people who are going to be left behind are the poor. What happens when you take a family that is barely making it. The government mandates we go electric. New vehicles will be unaffordable. The vehicles they can afford will have bad batteries and require several thousand dollars to get working again.
A separate thought I had was, how will the power consumption figure when batteries get weak. What if your battery is weak, you use the same amount of electricity to charge it, but you only go 20 miles instead of 40? | |
