south central WI | I have no idea on price. My thoughts are that if you get it back, and they pay full market price or double or whatever the price, you will do great. You get land back and you get paid a lot for the land. Even at market price, you could buy another 75 acres for free basically. The original land may only yield 60%, but you will sell 160% because your land doubled. If you don't like the lower yielding land, sell it and you will have the same acres as when you started plus the money from selling the land again.
I don't look at it as they are stealing and ruining your land. They are giving you an opportunity to strengthen your bottom line. I would try to get as much as I could without losing out on the deal.
As mentioned above, if you don't think the land will be worth farming, have them make it into a pond. You can sell that for a nice chunk of cash also. | |
