Kingston,Mi | We had a marching chant that regularly got us in trouble, " A YELLOW BIRD, SAT APON MY, WINDOW SILL, I LURED HIM, WITH CRUMBS OF BREAD, THEN I CRUSHED HIS FLIPPING HEAD." Substitute another word for "FLIPPING" for the full effect. Our training company was nearly battalion sized with 400 to 600 young recruits marching to the training site to become generator repair/operators, heavy construction mechanics and electrical device repairmen. Next building over was another 3 story barracks that had been converted to office space for a unit from Combat Development Command with lots of fresh LT.s and secretaries. If the we saw a Lt. escorting a couple of secretaries to his new, shiny convertible to go to lunch, then "YELLOW BIRD" was started. The last stanza was shouted a full volume. | |
