| Another thing to consider about signing up for supplemental insurance....when you initially sign up they can not ask about any health conditions that you have. They can't even ask how much you weigh. So if you have health conditions that would throw you into a high risk group and higher premiums, it is better to get supplemental insurance right away. After your initial sign up, for example you want to change insurance companies, they will ask you health questions and may search your health records to see if you are telling the truth. Be aware....your supplemental insurance will rise every year....the question is....how much.
Here....the Council on Aging has a person who can consult with you and explain the different types of insurance. Or find an agent who deals with many different supplemental insurance companies...maybe a friend or neighbor can recommend one. | |
