Subject: RE: Cotton is King

Most farmers I know have a different view on cotton than you. Lots of old timers talk about it being a fun crop or a “thinking mans” crop. But I’ve never heard anyone say it’s easier than corn or beans. You just give corn and beans all the juice and water you can and let em run. They’ll be fighting rains big time this year I suspect to get cotton crop out as farm spec pointed out, the crop is super late here. We can talk about the cost of cotton seed. The Cost of a new picker. The insect pressure alone is usually a headache in cotton from what I’ve seen. Also the fact that a dollar cotton is exciting? My dad was talking about $1+ cotton during the civil war and how he always. wanted to grow cotton for a 1$. I wonder what inflation adjusted $1 cotton during 1860’s would be worth today? That seems more like a price that’s worth the trouble
