"geothermal is electric heat"
Geothermal is not electric heat, it only runs the fan and pump.

The compressor runs on fairy dust? or does yours take unicorn farts? Geothermal is electric heat, unless you have hot springs, or converted your own reefer unit to heat the house on fuel oil.

A propane furnace, pellet stove, or outdoor wood boiler will all run off a small inverter off a car battery for long enough to keep warm because they only have a fan and pump. You'll need a much bigger generator to run a geothermal heat pump because it has a large compressor and is nothing more than electric heat at 2-4 times the output per watt.
