Madison Co. Virginia | I'm a member of a Beachy Amish church. Most folks would call us Mennonite.
Pro-vax and anti-vax is not preached over the pulpit. There's strong opinions on both sides within the church. There's equally strong views on masks, both for and against. A lot of folks fall in the middle of the spectrum, and it's a vocal minority that do most of the talking on both sides.
I would guess that over half of the church is vaccinated. Most of the middle-aged and elderly are vaccinated. More would, but they're afraid of what a vocal anti-vax family member would think.
I don't sense the "vaccination equals lack of faith" aspect at all in our church. There's quite a few registered nurses and other medical professions represented in the church, and the church operates a volunteer-staffed 40-bed nursing home, so we have reason to trust the modern medical field. | |
