Subject: RE: Barndominium

NE part of SW Iowa

."Texas Barndominiums" videos,

addresses the thermal break issues, with using a weld-up steel frame with 4" pipe and C channel, then the interior house walls are typical 2x4s wood construction(giving roughly an 8" cavity, around the exterior of entire building), then they spray closed cell foam on the metal vertical pipe, C channel {grits and purlins}, and sheetmetal, from the inside = all metal is covered, thus stopping the thermal transfer, for the most part.

Sidenote: Been thinking of metal building, for a shop, but don't want fiberglass insulation anywhere, so have been hunting for choices, that actually provide a "Complete" thermal break, even for all the purlins and grits, and THEIR screws. At one time, I saw a foam product, that fit over the Z channel areas, of the grits, and the tips of the screws, ended up inside that foam, thus providing a thermal break; but haven't been able to find it lately, on the web.

R panel, from Therm All, would provide the thermal break/insulation for walls and roof, but still have the screw tip issue, thru the grits and purlins.
