| I’m debating trying some chicken litter this year instead of dry fertilizer because of the price of dry fertilizer. I can get two tons per acre spread for $150/ac. I’ve never dealt with litter before and i was looking for help converting the lbs of phos and potash i would get from the litter into what it would cost to get the same amount of lbs from dry fertilizer MAP, and potash.
The analysis i received is:
Organic N 22lbs/ton
Ammonium N 8lbs/ton
P 33lbs/ton
K 54lbs/ton
S 20lbs/ton
Ca 29lbs/ton
Mg 15lbs/ton
Zn .8lbs/ton
Fe 3.1lbs/ton
Mn .7lbs/ton
Cu .7lbs/ton
B .2lbs/ton
Maybe I’m overthinking it but the P vs P2O5 thing always confuses me and makes it hard for me to figure out how much P I’m getting out of the litter vs dry fertilizer. Any help and showing how you calculated it would be much appreciated! Also if this sounds like a good price for what we are getting? The litter is going to be trucked about 30 miles so quite a bit of the expense is spreading and trucking. Thanks! | |
