Near-north Ontario, French River | FWIW, I've had two kidney stones, and neither presented with pain in the groin area. Both times a severe but DULL pain in the kidney area on the right hand side. You will get a burning sensation when whizzing, but again not in the groin area. The way it was explained to me, the pain comes from the stone moving between the kidney and bladder. Stones are like jagged pieces of rust ( actually solidified minerals ) so as they travel between the kidney and bladder they scrape the sides of the duct,,, sometimes causing bleeding. Once in the bladder the urethra is a much bigger opening so the final journey is much less painful, but its more a burning than crippling pain. I went from being bent over in pain, to walking out as if nothing was wrong in a matter of seconds once the stone passed. |
