| This idea has been on the Biden agenda for a while now.
I kind of think it's a ploy so they can float these huge spending bills partially on the idea of "we'll pay for it by catching tax fraud" and "we'll increase tax revenues by scaring the cheaters into paying". Which is of course delusional optimism.
Although I think it is ridiculous it really doesn't matter. Just like a honest person getting a 1099, they were going to claim it as income anyway.
And it's not really going to raise any tax revenue from the cash transactions that go unreported and undeposited. But maybe that step is coming later in a cashless society. | |
