Keep it away from the exhaust manifold. If you keep it under 200 degrees it will never explode.

I can heat 3 cans at a time in my 12V oven. They never get hot enough to explode the cans, and the temperature is about right for eating.
You need a good connection that delivers at least 12 amps though.
