Subject: RE: Cattle Shade

SE Nebraska
Just bought one and put it up this summer from Rush Co. I bought the one that uses a 625gal water tank as a weight instead of the concrete block style. I have two paddocks that don't have any shade so I can just move this one with the skidloader. Pump out half the water and pick it up, move it and pump the water back in. Built out of galvanized tubing. All bolts together. Hardest part was putting up the shade cloth but maybe because we did it in the heat on a no wind day. I was happy with the purchase. Just moved them to it last week so i cant give any input on how well it works but it was sure nice in the shade once we got it up. I typically build stuff myself but knew a project like this I just wouldnt have the time for when the pasture was a good distance away. I did see a guy in nebraska that builds permanent shades using staggered guardrail to block the sun instead of a shade cloth. If i needed something at home for dry lotting i would probably build something similar.
