NW Washington | I remember a guy in N Idaho who grew soft white winter wheat year after year because of his lease and he burned the straw and no-tilled the next crop. He said, "I fertilizer for a 100 bu/ac and hope for 70 bu/ac". But this was a long-term deal.
With just one recrop you might not be hurt too bad. Watch the "green bridge" issue and make sure all volunteer wheat and grass weeds are dead for a couple of weeks before you seed the next wheat crop. Put on extra fertilizer and hope for the best. Grassy weeds and wild oats can be a problem in some areas.
