Subject: N management

Top middle of MO. land of green hills and grass
Fringe area farm in the center of the corn belt here.

No good sources for NH3, no source for ammonium nitrate. Can get urea, treated or not. Can get UAN.

Local store has no UAN toolbar, so I’d need my own.

Notill so far, and attempting to remain so. I do my own spraying with a coupe.

I’m concerned about urea broadcast and left on top. Looking at option for inject UAN with coulter bar. Can I run 150-200# of N preplant in 1 pass with a bar, or do I need to split that pre and sidedress? Due to time, labor and equipment, preference would be to 1 pass pre, but I recognize there’s a good case to be made to split it.

Other option is I can shut off boom sections and run with just main sections of coupe boom. For no more acres than I’m looking at, I could fix it up to dribble or broadcast Liquid between the rows. It’s already set up and spaced for that with 30” nozzles.

Is there anything else I should be considering for how this may or may not work?
