Mid Michigan
I was trying to figure it out last night. If you are doing a 40 acre field it's 1320 ft by 1320 ft. If you're using a 100 ft wide boom that's 13 passes across the field. Each tire on a self propelled sprayer is probably going to take out at least a foot per side so you have 2 ft of destruction for each of the 13 passes not including what you destroy on headlands when you turn around. So 2ft x 1320 is 2640 square feet wiped out times 13 passes which comes out to 34320 square feet. About 3/4 of an acre on 40 acres. All sprayers are different. I come up with about 1.9%. Probably a touch more if you have a lot of turning. I was figuring it for a 30 ft wide sprayer on drilled beans and it was really startling! I guess I might be walking and hand spraying more. Not sure yet.
