He said, "people are like crabs, they don't want anybody to get out of the pot and keep electing people to pull them back." 

I said elaborate on that, and he did. We tax your income, we tax your property and we tax your estate.  That way you can't under normal circumstance get ahead like the people who are wealthy now or who are senators and representatives who exit office when near death with millions of your tax dollars.  But, other people look at you getting ahead and say we need that tax money and they shouldn't be able to pass all that on to their kids.  Or property tax means you don't really own your property, just don't pay and see how long before you don't live there because they need your money for their schools, their playgrounds their bike paths.
