45th parallel MI
Last couple seasons we’ve done oat/pea plus cereal rye drilled around Labor Day.

Graze it late October, early April, mid May. Last grazing is quick because the quality is low and we have permanent pasture to move to.

We are organic, so full tillage and seed SS around mid June. It’s just about ready now.

If you can chem n-till and have treated seed, I would think you could drill the SS in early May right after the last grazing.

The oats really help with tonnage and quality in the fall grazing. You could leave that out if that’s not a priority and run straight rye
