I just kill whatever with roundup or rup/2-4D mix every week or so. I tried putting black plastic down but after a few years, enough dust will have blown in to grow weeds.

Did this around some hag barns with the same result. Looks good and works for a few years until dirt blows into rock and weeds start growing anyway. I would just put down a good sized rock and plan on spraying it when needed.
