Fruita CO | There is a lot of truth to that theory. A guy I know had a water supply business, hauling Artesian drinking water. He was totally buried hauling water to rigs & camps when the oil field was booming, & got a call for a load of water to go to Telluride on New Years Eve. (Ski area, lots of celebrity homes...)
He got a guy who had worked for him for years & retired to take that job as he was tied up in the oil patch. Turned out the water was for Steve Martin's hot tub party. It was snowing, road was slick, house was up on the mountainside, he had to get pulled in by a grader. He charged $900 for the load, & Martin tipped the driver...$900...Mark said he was glad his old driver got it, but he sure hated to miss out on that tip...drilling companies don't do that... | |
