Frivolous things like $6000 burgers are a great way to transfer wealth away from the rich and back to regular people. They don’t require any extraordinary amount of resources, which is where the real value is, so they result in a significantly disproportionate voluntary transfer of wealth away from the buyer.


That is kind of the way I look at it too. Both of you actually.

Other than philanthropy, how else do people of means get money back into circulation? By spending it. Might not be the most efficient or productive way of doing it, but it does give other people jobs. Just imagine the 15% tip for the wait staff. 

Add in a $2,000 drink and $3,000 for fries and pretty soon you are talking about an expensive meal. Might as well went out for a steak.
