Subject: RE: John Deere 410-510, B and C models, hyd power beyond ?

Wisconsin
As far as I know: power beyond is needed to add another control valve to an open center hydraulic system. These JD's have a closed center radial piston pump, so you can tap virtually anywhere and it will function with a closed center valve. If you use an open center valve, it will overheat and lower pressure to other functions.

There is a priority valve to protect hydraulic power to the steering and brakes by cutting off the loader valve, any functions that you would use while driving should be connected to the supply to the loader valve to preserve that protection. Any functions on the backhoe valve will NOT be shut off to protect the steering. IF you operate the backhoe while driving, you will lose steering and brakes, any valve plumbed there and operated while driving will do the same thing.
