This may be a silly question but how do I prep the frame.. Besides power washing, pulling off wheels, and wire wheeling/sanding/scaling. Obviously tape lights. But I've seen truck frames where EVERYTHING is black, after being painted over. I feel like that could cause a lot of problems tracing wires later on. So do I just paint over like others? Or cover air lines/wires/ and hoses.. And then paint? What's the best way to go about that?

Need to find a good body shop.
Most of those guys have a knack for doing it with experience.
Experience pays big dividends in that arena of expertise.

I use Restoleum semi gloss black on the frame out of a can.
Wire brush then paint. Looks great.

As far as leaks.
Mostly air and your going to hear that.
Oil will show up even if black.

Wires you can see wear spots.

I’m a big believer in Rustoleum
