I build a 10' walk board for our fork truck about 15 yrs ago. I made metal pockets and bolted them to the bottom of the board as wide as our forks would go. Need to make them just deep enough the forks will. Go in & fight fairly tight. If you leave too much play then when you walk to one end of the board the other end will tip up. Even 1" will seem like a lot when the end your on drops down while your 10' in the air. Learned the hard way & had to make mine over again.

I put 3/4" pipe on each corner of the walk board plus 2 on each long side & attached chain to the pipes to act as a safety rail.
