| .4 inches a day may be what corn can use in a day but watching our corn it is becoming apparent that it doesn’t need that much. We’re less than 6” since September 1 of last year and I believe our subsoil was depleted at that point. Corn here is 6-7 feet tall and tasseling in most areas of the fields. Yes there is some that is going to be zero, maybe all of it. I do not think we’ll have corn to combine without some meaningful rains but then again if you go by the corn use charts ours should have been burnt to a crisp a month ago. 10 years ago I think it would have been all over but these varieties are better and do a lot more than a guy could ever imagine. | |
