I got lucky once, lightning hit my house took out my internet modem and computer and also somehow fried the board on my deep freeze.  Freezer was only about 2 year old.  It was an upright, luckily I noticed it the next morning when I went down to get something out and then light didn't come on.  The digital temp selector also wasn't lit.  I moved everything to the freezer in the barn and ordered a new circuit board.  It's been running 12 years since.
