Big article in local paper about how local town where my phone exchange is located is going to get gig internet by Windstream's Kinetic. That's 1000 Mbps service. Once again all the rural broadband money gets spent in town while the rural customers are told no upgrades or improvements for you still stuck with crappy 3.0 Mbps service. So the question is how long did it take after you got faster speeds in your local towns did it take for improved speeds out in the rural areas? Also in rural areas what speeds are you getting and what packages are offered? Wasn't there some criteria that they have to have minimum of 10 down 1 up by the end of 2020 to continue to receive grants and funding for broadband deployment ? We have been waiting at least a decade or more for faster speeds and it never gets here, meanwhile in town they keep getting upgraded services. Century Link within sight in 2 directions installed all new fiber last year and is offering 50-100Mbps speeds. Just wondering what other Windstream customers have seen when upgrades came to their local areas. They won't do wireless despite doing this in other areas and they will also not do bonded DSL lines either. |
