Western ND | My brother in law is a pretty good horse guy, lots of experience. Anyways, they have a few horses and my 10yr old niece ended up with a shoulder injury from the horse she was riding, and had rode 100s of times before. It for whatever reason spooked and did a little crow hop and she came off. She still rides and only when someone is around or riding with.
Don't write it off completely as I think everyone should learn how to ride but maybe set up a goal for her to achieve in the next few years and things could workout better. One thing I will add is if you ever get one, be sure someone knowledgeable is with or you can verify the horse is good for kids or inexperienced riders. Horse jockeys and traders are more crooked than used car salesmen, and aren't afraid to take advantage of people. | |
