I think problems start showing up later in life that we did not have when younger. Or maybe the stuff that was bothering us when we were younger were doing damage slowly and only later got to be enough problem for us to notice.
I'm thinking of my wife and different foods. When dating and going out to eat almost 38 years ago she had told me she would eat anything that did not eat her first. We both had cast iron stomachs. Now it seems like we feel a lot better when we avoid certain foods. For her too much nightshade plant food bothers her and since we have been off vegetable oils for a couple years now, if she has anything in a resturant that has it (like cole slaw or salad dressing for instance) she is off to the bathroom in short order. That stuff never used to bother her. For me it is mostly carbs that raise my blood sugar since I am diabetic.
Arnold Schwarzenegger quoted many times during his younger yrs as saying “give me anything on the kitchen floor”.
Then they believed the Immune system was boosted by diversification.
He doesn’t talk that way anymore.
