Pittsburg, Kansas | You might consider trading out the popcorn for pork rinds. The popcorn is a source of carbs and thus sugar. Plus the hulls on the popcorn are not the best for the intestines.
I know a lot of people do not like the taste of pork rinds. I did not at all when I first tried them (but my wife liked them right off). But after tasting hers a few times I got used to them and now like them.
Not all prok rinds are created equal. Some have more of a "piggy" taste than others. The flavored ones )like BBQ) usually have a tiny amount of sugar and so are not quite as good for a person, but I still consider them superior to most other snacks available. One of the least "pork rindy" flavors, one that I really like, is the salt and pepper flavored. Wal-Mart in most locations carry the MAC's brand and they are great. Wife likes the salt and vinegar.
We both also like the plain pork rinds, but I think for a person just getting used to them the flavored ones will go over better.
Just a thought.
