I read research has shown covers decrease the odds or cost of claims. Like others said as long as it’s voluntary it ok.

I have been doing my own-and can absolutely say-I'm takin a yield hit-wither corn or beans-we are simply short on moisture-by a lot.-the cover crop that has been only a benefit has been fall oats here.
I only farm 800 acres-and have lots of rotation-corn, beans, oats, rye, winter wheat, buck wheat , and alfalfa.
usually 10-30 bushel hit on corn with soybeans the same.

My best yields have been corn and beans with fall tillage-my worse yields are no till corn behind rye cover crop followed by no till beans behind rye cover crop- oats on fall tillage is about even with my regular corn-

If you don’t consistently no till you are giving yourself the initial yield penalty over and over again. You won’t see positive results from No till until the 3rd corn crop in a corn soy rotation
