I read research has shown covers decrease the odds or cost of claims. Like others said as long as it’s voluntary it ok.
I have been doing my own-and can absolutely say-I'm takin a yield hit-wither corn or beans-we are simply short on moisture-by a lot.-the cover crop that has been only a benefit has been fall oats here.
I only farm 800 acres-and have lots of rotation-corn, beans, oats, rye, winter wheat, buck wheat , and alfalfa.
usually 10-30 bushel hit on corn with soybeans the same.
My best yields have been corn and beans with fall tillage-my worse yields are no till corn behind rye cover crop followed by no till beans behind rye cover crop- oats on fall tillage is about even with my regular corn- |
