Kankakee, IL | The primary individual driving the Illinois program for American Farmland Trust is an active farmer himself. I have known him for years and he's been using cover crops as long as I've known him. Trust me when I say that he understand the pitfalls, and the bonuses with cover crops. That is the exact kind of person you want talking to officials about a program like this.
NRCS guidelines for cover crops are still way off of base, but getting better.....slowly! Better off to do it alone, in my opinion. | |
