The guys building them say it’s a no brainer and going to make a killing. I inquired about per head space and was told 40-45. Always thought before you were buying yourself a job.
Please take as constructive advice
no brainer -not bashing my neighbor/friend but they said same thing in about '03 , hooked up with wrong contractor , lost everything
$40-45 pig space is a 20 yr. old price ,look now they want hogs to be $275-300#-and barns cost 3x what they were in 2000
Buying a job- yes,like buying a truck
Fwiw before you build go power wash a 2,400 head barn, do a load out and pull out 50 big deads ,which if disease hits could be 150
Ideally Iowa Mark has the best business plan on NAT for custom feeding....barn paid for and you rent the 'pig owner' the facility and he does feeding,repairs,ect.
