Lee Valley has those steel split drill stops too. They are the best type but I always wrap some blue tape around the bit above the stop so it will be obvious if it moves up the bit. I have a Dowelmax jig and I use a 3/8" bit with a stop to drill a lot of holes. I also have a lot of drill stops that have never been used because they always come in kits.
