Central Illinois | Many years ago we took a load of hay to the sale barn at Arthur, IL. 100 or 120 bales. An Amish bought the hay and asked dad if we would deliver to his farm, which we did. He rode with us and sent a boy on home in the buggy. We were backing down to the barn, past the house and the man asked us to stop and let him out. He hollered to the house in, what, Dutch? German?, while we backed on down to the barn. Kids came pouring out of that house from every hole. I swear one jumped from a first floor window... I was about 15 and bucking bales was in my blood. But, those kids had the entire load in the barn in about 3 minutes. I tried to get on the trailer to help but decided to just get out of their way. | |
