There’s pretty good money in buying lightweight kids and feeding them a little heavier. Biggest issue is getting them bought. Depending on the area 50-70# are desired but they will kill them in the top 30s. A guy is maybe keeping them 60 days most of the time and finding enough to refill 4-6 times a year is hard. When your trying to bid them off against the packer to feedout it’s hard as well and usually there aren’t that many at a sale. I run the dairy bottle kid route to source mine. I also have a market that likes them near 100# so it helps to have more pounds to put on them to spread out the initial price. On the dairy kids they need feed like Holsteins and not pasture though.
