I’m sure that you’ve heard a lot things about China that may or may not be true, most of it has to do with geography though.

they’ve got India on one side of them( they are do to take over as the most populous country in the world) and Russia on the other side.  Which if the analysis is fair both have aspirations of their own that aren’t exactly benevolent....

also in relationship to the food side, most of the soy and corn is grown in the north and most of the population, is in the south, so alotta of time logistics of getting the stuff in the north to the end users in the south dictates that they sell their stuff in the north to the world market, whilst to feed the people in the south they purchase on the world market. They’ll do this all day long. That’s most of the reason that “analysts” have so much trouble estimating the size of the Chinese harvests, plus it’s also a state secret.

so when China has a crop production problem most times it relates more to a supply issue in the world market than to a hunger issue in their own country.

their “main problem” is now and always has been is the disenchantment with the communist system of gov and resulting dissension. like I mentioned geography comes into play, China is a large area geographically and keeping all people on the same page is a challenge. Most of the disgust, disagreement, etc. comes from rampant fraud and corruption in their local governments, and the inequality in how “comrades” get treated.

hungry people can be angry, but hunger is certainly more debilitating than anything.
food supply control is one of  quickest ways to bring a area under control, or at least get their attention that they had better get their act together.
