There are some definite issues with doing this, but you maybe can. First off, the short box isn't compatible with a yaw sensor. If you have a yaw sensor instead of an SPS/WAS, it's not going to work. Also, the short box doesn't do PWM control, so you can likely make your system work by slowing down the flow for the SmarTrax valve, but your line acquire is going to be pretty crappy. Finally, even with everything else going against it, the top speed for the short box steering is under 22 instead of under 28 for the long box, so that's something to consider with a spreader.
There's really no reason you'd need a reverse mount controller. If you can find a conventional mount long box, that will work too, you'd just need to put some spacers in or something to get it mounted so you can read it.
