Beresford, SD | I’ve farmed since 1992. Crop insurance loss years....1993, 1999, 2001,2006, 2007, 2012, 2019. Causes of loss, 3 years too wet, 3 too dry, 1 hailed out. Most other years our yields will rival Illinois or Iowa. As one moves west expect more variability in yields year to year. Why an 80% RP policy with a 226 APH costs $26/acre.....same exact policy in central Iowa be $8?
