western iowa,by Denison | dropping urea 25% is probably only 120# ton urea vs 240# per ton on a liquid protein-
1ton of liquid will feed 2000 head one day
.12# to .06 #
ration has some hay in it-
remember good alfalfa hay at 5# per head will meet all of the protein needs
urea has gone up in cost, about 25cents for adding hay in the ration per head -urea would be about 5cents
urea is hard on the liver and very delicate balance between the protein needs of those animals
I always try to have hay-or rye silage and haylage in the ration
the feed man made a very wise choice backing the urea down-
I would guess there's only 1 person feeding the cattle 9 out of 10 days-that person is the one on the feed wagon tractor that can read cattle-that is something a feed nutrionist or book smart feed guru can not learn unless they also feed 24-7
you can learn a lot with a five gallon bucket-you learn faster if you pay attention-
