NCND
The last drought map had ward and mchenry in second worst drought possible. Ward county has around 180,000 acres soybeans. Botno directly NE of ward has over 200,000 acres of soybeans. I am a dairyland seed dealer which is a corteva company. We are the largest dairyland soybean dealer in country by a pretty wide margin.

In 2016 botno county had 220k of soybeans with a 41bpa avg just to give you an idea of what can be produced.

I’m the dot on the drought map. Highway 83 is the line north south. In general corn acres expand exponentially east of 83. My best corn yield is 174 with a aph around 125. I’m sure there are more seasoned growers than me which have significantly higher aph’s. Our wheat aph is around 68-70 on avg. ward county is number 3 producing county of hrsw in world. The S is Stutsman county. I ene live acreage wise they are number 2 or 3 in country for soybean. The areas east and north of ward county are some pretty big wheat producing counties and soybeans along with canola.
Acres.

This kind of gives you a lay of the land for what’s grown here. As you can see I’m just outside the worst drought classification but it’s still horrid here. These are photos of wheat today planted in April. Pics don’t do it justice especially considering anything these days under aph is considered pretty bad. Even in 2017 we had a 68 avg on wheat but that was with 600 acres of wheat on flower ground that had hail and only did around 57. We have heavier soils and in 2017 we had a lot of subsoil. There is absolutely zero subsoil across the whole state outside the valley basically.

This should help understand what it means for all crops here. I think if my math is correct and ND has around 12 million acres soybeans and we cut yield by 9 bpa we essentially lost the pipeline of soy carry out. I’m Uber long spring wheat and contemplating doing same on soybeans.

Edit to add photo of normal looking wheat for this time of year here.

Also if I had to guess ward county(home) probably be around 200k of beans this year with surrounding counties up around 10% is my guess with corn probably higher than that. Planted acres be huge this year because you could seed theu EVERYTHING. This is in a county that led the nation in PP 2010,2011 and 2013
