| I'm in far southeast Iowa. The past 6 weeks have been wet, especially the last 3. Drying up now for fieldwork to resume. Even though it's dry in the northern cornbelt, this year has no similarities to 1988 or 2012. 1983 was cool and wet in May for most of the cornbelt and then the heat dome came out of the southwest and caused widespread problems, but 1980 was very similar . Wet may locally and then mid June the heat built in. The only difference to this year, so far is the high pressured centered between KC and Dallas, in the southern plains in 1980 and this year it looks like the northern plains is where the ridge is going to set up. Anybody else see the same similarities?
