Its the voltage that goes out. If you look at the round 16 pin connection on the back of the 440, there are 2 wires coming out of one pin hole. These wires are black, brown, blue. One of the wires go to the switch and one goes to the circuit board. When you flip the switch to the "on" position the current that travels out to the 16 pin and to the section valve, but also travels back to the circuit board thus letting the console know that the section is turned on.
