Ohio | As part of an 80 acre field I have a wet spot where I usually cannot plant around a 3/4 to half an acre. This hole is at the back end of the field and I do not have fall to the nearest open ditch to add tile. After the rest of the field was planted this hole was still not dried out enough to get across after 5 days of dry weather.
What would you do to manage this? Would planting the lowest spots to a grass mix and farming around it accomplish that? It butts up to the neighbors property, but their side is only really affected in about a 30' X 15' area. Ideally I would like to do something different that hopefully shrinks the amount of the unplanted portion. I know that there is probably another 1-2 acres surrounding this that are negatively impacted, but at least I can get some crop off them.
Curious to see what other would do. | |
